Hey there,

In the interests of copying a useful thread from YC Hackernews. I'm starting up a "Who's Hiring" in the community thread (though there might be scope for making this into a more permanent thing in future like exists for community events: www.opentech.events).

JOB PURPOSE

This key individual will work directly under Videre’s Senior Management Team. The role will involve carefully creating, training, maintaining, coordinating and directing network operations in the field. Work will be in various geopolitical areas that might be hostile and where telecommunications are poor and infrastructure negligible, the main emphasis of the role will be on precision, logistics and safety.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing logistics, operations and communication – Constant telecommunications management with partners, deal with urgent problems, manage networks on a 24/7 basis where necessary, problem-solve to remove any obstacles to productivity and safety through all stages of operation – from planning to capturing visual data and broadcasting it. Support and ensure the welfare of all individuals involved in the projects under you.

Planning operations – Create plans to execute Videre’s vision and missions in its areas of operation, with guidance from the senior management team.
Training – Train networks to use overt and hidden cameras to create visual information. The training includes filming, gathering information, verification, operations and basic security when needed.
Identifying and recruiting – Find suitable partners to work with and create common ground for future engagement.Documenting and
reporting – Ensure all activities are recorded, documented and analysed. Monitor and report on all levels of activity to assess effectiveness, impact and progress of the organisation’s projects.
Overseeing daily workings of local offices – Coordinate all tasks and workflow associated with the project; manage locally-contracted hires; assist in project research and fundraising.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Required:

Concern and understanding of human rights issues
High-level coordination or management experience of at least three years
Highly organised, systematic thinker and problem-solver
Exceptionally good with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
Strong decision-making ability to resolve problems quickly and carefully under pressure in situations of uncertainty
Flexible way of thinking and operating
Ability to work under extreme pressure in a very competitive environment
Creative, productive and innovative
A great team player with the ability to work alone
Ability to travel frequently and spend a lot of time away from office (minimum 6 months travelling per year)
Willingness to work irregular hours, long days, and in high-risk situations.
Fluent English; additional languages would be an advantage, especially French, Spanish or Arabic

Highly Desired:

Experience working on the ground in a number of different environments and cultures
Experience with training and presenting to various groups
Experience in the film/media world, in the role of producing, directing or filming
Knowledge of current affairs and the media world
Military/intelligence/police service experience in a commanding role
Full driving license
IT knowledge
